Business Support Officer

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing Department at West Northamptonshire Council for a full-time Business Support Officer. This role involves working closely with the teams in Housing Solutions, providing essential day-to-day administrative support.

As part of the Business Support Team, you’ll be based at our Angel Square offices and play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of housing services. The position offers a varied and engaging workload, with the chance to learn and work across all systems used within the Housing Solutions team.

What will you be doing?

Administrative Support
Deliver a full range of administrative functions - maintaining records, managing stationery, and ensure sensitive handling of issues involving vulnerable individuals. 

Customer and Partner Enquiries
Manage service mailboxes and respond to enquiries from customers and partners, taking ownership to resolve issues effectively.

Data Management
Maintain and input data into various databases and spreadsheets ensure visibility and oversight of data and to support government statistical returns and performance monitoring.

Complaint Monitoring
Support the Service Manager in tracking complaints and responses, and allocate them to the appropriate officers.

Financial Administration
Use the Council’s Financial Management System (ERP Gold) to raise orders, verify invoices, and receipt goods. Obtain quotes for goods and services in line with the Council’s Procurement Policy.

Information Management
Maximise personal productivity, reduce duplication and errors, and manage information securely and efficiently using Office 365 and internal IT systems.

About you

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to understand data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using internal IT systems (e.g., Office 365, Teams, Outlook, Case management systems)
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a high volume of work
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality
