About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the School Attendance Support Service as a tracking officer to support the CME processes within the team.
In line with DfE Statutory guidance, the role includes conducting checks to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of pupils missing from education. Checks include contacting other local authorities, HMRC border control and partner agencies to investigate lines of enquiry to locate the child and family following receipt of a CME contact form.
What will you be doing?
The role includes the daily management of caseloads, prioritising the most pressing matters, and liaison with other relevant services and professionals to safeguard children.
You will need to assess information from the CME contact form received and identify any potential risk, prioritise any action needed to safeguard children, including alerting other agencies as and when required. In addition, you will be required to conduct home visits.

The role is fast paced and involves switching between a variety of tasks throughout the day. The ability to multi-task is essential and
You will be comfortable working in a busy working environment, able to demonstrate great attention to detail and work to short deadlines. Experience of working in an education background is not necessary but significant experience in using various IT packages is essential.
Good oral and written communication is essential and the ability to be empathetic yet can constructively challenge is an asset.
You must be well-organised, tenacious and confident, problem solver.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
