Cafe Catering Assistant

About the role

The new cafe at WNC headquarters, One Angel Square opened to customers in January 2026 and is always a hub of activity throughout the day.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic cafe team and work in a fast paced environment, preparing and serving food to WNC staff and business partners. From breakfast to lunchtime, nutritious appetising food and delightful beverages are served to sustain the health and energy of cafe customers. 

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will assist with preparation of food in readiness for cooking or serving, paying attention to special dietary requirements and Natasha's Law.  

You will use the cash register to take card payments from customers for food and beverages. 

You will be expected to maintain high standards of hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, careful handling of food, cleanliness and tidiness of work areas, and be mindful of allergies, and infection control. 

You will wash, clean and tidy up serving utensils, kitchen equipment and counters when the cafe closes for the day.


About you

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with people at all levels, be a team player who is able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and its customers.

You will have a basic understanding of food hygiene and Natasha's Law, although training will be provided.

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a fast paced cafe environment.

You will have a basic understanding of COSHH regulations, manual handling and cleaning techniques.
