Care Home - Senior Carer/Shift Lead (Southfields)

About the role

Southfields Care home, rated GOOD by CQC, provides exceptional levels of support to people living with dementia, physical disabilities or /and sensory impairments.

Situated in a residential suburb in Northampton, Southfields offers a wonderful living environment in which residents can enjoy an enhanced quality of life.

We have teams of friendly and committed staff who provide the highest level of dementia care and residential care.

With our great accommodation, facilities and programme of activities, our care home evokes a home from home atmosphere in which our residents can feel comfortable, content and very well cared for.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you’ll lead and coordinate your team throughout each shift, making sure workloads are organised, priorities are clear, and any challenges are quickly and confidently resolved. You’ll be the go-to person on shift – making decisions, supporting colleagues, and keeping everything running smoothly.

You’ll be hands-on in delivering practical, personal and emotional care, ensuring each resident receives support tailored to their individual needs and care plans. From administering medication safely to keeping accurate records, updating care plans, and contributing to reviews, you’ll play a key role both on the floor and behind the scenes.

You’ll also take ownership as a key worker, helping residents access the services and support available to them, while promoting independence and wellbeing. Alongside this, you’ll ensure a safe, positive environment for everyone by following health, safety and safeguarding practices at all times, and making sure high standards of care are consistently delivered.

This role offers a varied working pattern, including 7-hour shifts, a mix of early and late shifts, and alternate weekend working, providing flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

35 hours per week, shifts of 7 hours.

A mix of,

Morning shift: 7:45am – 2:45pm &

Evening shift: 2:45pm – 9:45pm

Alternate weekend working is required.

Unfortunately, this role does not meet the legal requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

About you

You’ll have previous experience working in adult health or social care and an understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and current care standards. Ideally, you’ll hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and be confident working flexibly across a range of shifts.

It would be great if you also have experience with administering and managing medication within a residential or dementia care setting, and are working towards your NVQ Level 3.
