Coroners and The County Mortuary Service Manager

About the role

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Coroners and County Mortuary Service Manager to lead the operational delivery of two critical services: the Northamptonshire Coroners Service and the County Mortuary. What will you be doing?

You’ll manage the day-to-day operations of both services, lead a multidisciplinary team, and ensure compliance with legislation and quality standards. The role involves overseeing health and safety, emergency planning, stakeholder engagement, and budget management. You’ll also support service improvements and ensure a compassionate approach to working with bereaved families.

About you

You’re an experienced leader with a strong background in mortuary or coronial services, and a deep understanding of relevant legislation. You’re confident managing teams, budgets, and service transformation, and you communicate sensitively and effectively.
