Environmental Protection Officer (Air Quality)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self motivated person to take the lead on air quality work within West Northants. 

Air Quality is the remit of the Environmental Protection service, working with key partners such as Public Health and Sustainability colleagues amongst others in the Council. 

The key aspect of this role is to work in an innovative ways to develop air quality improvements from within Regulatory Services.

The role can be based at any of our three locations, and flexible working will be supported.  It will be expected that the successful candidate can attend the office or other locations as required from time to time.  

The role is fixed term for 2 years initially. 

What will you be doing?

 The main duties of the role will include:

  • Preparation of the new unitary Annual Status Reports, including review of current air quality monitoring
  • Managing the two current grant funded projects which are ongoing
  • Compiling successful bids for further grant funding
  • Working with partners to move forward the air quality improvement strategy
  • Regular updates and liaison with customers, internal, external and members.
  • Development of policy and strategy in respect of air quality improvements and links to the Council sustainability agenda

About you

Working with partner organisations and developing strong links with internal colleagues is essential, as is a full clean driving licence. 

We need someone who can bring experience of working across organisations and with key partners and stakeholders to deliver project work which improves air quality across our urban and rural areas, persuasive and able to influence positive change through a mix of education and formal measures.
