About the role
West Northamptonshire Council has a vacancy for a Finance Business Partner to support our Housing directorate. Working as part of a newly formed Finance team, this is a role where you’ll be able to put to practice your wide range of accountancy skills and business acumen to support a busy Housing team.
We are open to speak to candidates from different professional finance backgrounds, whether that be the public sector or private sector, drawing on experience of good financial management and the ability to be comfortable working in dynamic, ever changing and fast paced environment.
This role is part flexible, based in the office 2 days a week with the option to work elsewhere for the remainder of the week if preferred.
What will you be doing?
Day to day, your role will include:
- Business partnering
- Medium term financial planning
- In year financial monitoring and variance analysis
- Financial appraisals
- Managing and operating financial systems
- Detailed reconciliations
- Working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
About you
We are looking for a qualified, or part qualified accountant, who has a good eye for detail, but also has great interpersonal skills, and is looking for a role to establish themself as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, putting them at the fore front of local decision making, alongside other like-minded individuals within a proactive and forward-thinking strategic finance team.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
