Head Porter - Cleaning Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced team supervisor to lead the team of Porter Cleaners at the historic Guildhall in the heart of Northampton.  The successful candidate will line manage a team of 3 staff and play a vital role in maintaining the high standard cleanliness and ensure the Guildhall is a safe and pleasant environment for the building occupants.  They will also work alongside the Facilities and Events team to ensure our meeting rooms and hire spaces are set up to the required standard and create a welcoming atmosphere for our clients and guests. 

What will you be doing?

Manage the daily operations of the Porter/Cleaners, ensuring cleaning standards are met to a high standard and room set ups are completed on time.

Line Manage a team of 3 staff, including monitoring absences, managing performance, training, and conducting one to one meetings.

Undertake risk assessments and write procedures for the Porters/Cleaners.

Ensuring stock, equipment and supplies are regularly checked and replenished when required, keep accurate stock taking records.

Raising purchase orders and approving payments of invoices using the Councils Financial Systems.

Good customer service skills to liaise with internal and external customers and dealing with suppliers.

About you

We are looking for someone experienced in cleaning/housekeeping roles, with proactive management skills, an eye for detail and a hands-on approach. We require flexibility in working hours, weekend and evening working is required, for which time off in lieu or overtime is paid.
