About the role
The Facilities Team is seeking a Head Porter to work in the historic Guildhall in the heart of Northampton, a grade 2* listed building. Line managing a team of 3 to clean and maintain this beautiful building and also working alongside the Facilities and Events team to ensure rooms are set up and assisting in facilitating functions, events and Weddings.
Weekend and evening working is required for this role, time off in lieu or overtime is paid for this work.
What will you be doing?
Manage the workload of Porter Cleaners, ensuring the cleaning of the building and room set ups are completed on time and to standard for the events taking place at the Guildhall on a daily basis
Line Manage a team of 3 porters responsible for monitoring absences, managing performance, training and conducting 1:1 meetings
Undertake risk assessments and write procedures for the Porters/Cleaners
Ensuring all stock, equipment and supplies are regularly checked and replenished when required, keep accurate stock taking records
Raising purchase orders and approving payments of invoices using the Councils Financial Systems

We are looking for someone with an eye for detail
Enthusiastic and active
A hands on approach to work
Able to work flexibly in regards to working hours
Good customer service skills to liaise with internal and external customers and dealing with suppliers.
