Inclusion Officer - EHE

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

We are looking to recruit Inclusion officers with responsibility for those pupils that are electively home educated (EHE). The role will include communicating with the families of those pupils that are electively home educated, review home education plans and carrying out home visits to ensure that the child is receiving suitable education.

What will you be doing?

Having received notification of the intention to home educate, the EHE officer will open an involvement and make contact with the family. You will request and review a home education plan and conduct home visits. You may be required to liaise closely with colleagues in other teams such as the Education and Health Care Plan service or Social Care and conduct joint visits as and where required.

Where it is deemed necessary, the officer may be required to escalate concerns so that the local authority can use its safeguarding powers, as explained in DfE guidance, to ensure that the child’s development is protected from significant harm.

About you

Previous experience in a similar role is not essential but some knowledge of safeguarding would be beneficial and the ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders is key to effective practice. You will be able to problem solve and not be afraid to have difficult and challenging conversations.

We want talented, ambitious and passionate people to come and take on this challenging and rewarding role.  With excellent oral and written communication skills, you will be outcome focused. Resilience and tenacity is essential.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact the Recruiting Manager Katie.Morlidge@westnorthants.gov.uk.

Interviews will be held on w/c 12 June 2023.
