About the role

This is an exciting time to be joining Northampton Museums and Art Gallery as we continue to deliver our brand-new schools programme.

The Northampton Museum & Art Gallery has been open just over a year after undergoing a major £6.7million expansion and renovation project. This has doubled the size of the museum, creating new exhibition galleries, collections facilities and visitor amenities. Abington Park Museum, set in Northampton’s premier park, also recently underwent a redisplay and expanded its visitor facilities.

As a Museum Learning Facilitator, you will be crucial in the delivery of our school’s education programme. You’ll deliver primary school programmes linking to subjects including Science, History, Geography and Art and design and will be responsible for preparing, setting up and delivering active learning sessions to schools both in the museums and schools.

What will you be doing?

To deliver on and off-site formal museum active learning sessions for children of all abilities aged 0-19 years; informal learning sessions for a range of different audiences; specific learning activities relating to temporary exhibitions, events and other initiatives.

About you

You will be an energetic and enthusiastic individual, who is a highly effective communicator. With previous experience of delivering learning activities for a range of different ages and abilities of children, you will have a good understanding of object-based learning and an awareness of the National Curriculum.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
