About the role
West Northamptonshire Council are seeking to recruit a dynamic, experienced, skilled and innovative Older Persons Commissioning Service Manager to deliver the vision for Adult Social Care Older Peoples Services. It is an exciting time to be joining West Northamptonshire, as 2 new models of care for Older Peoples care services will be going live in 2023. The West Northamptonshire Commissioning and Performance Service delivers innovative and effective commissioning service provision across the spectrum of care needs. To ensure that our Commissioning Managers are able to deliver to our ambitions and vision, a new Service Manager is required to deliver the very best services across the Independent Care Sector. The postholder will also have responsibility for our Brokerage Service, who arrange packages of care with the Independent Care Sector across all service and client types.
The postholder will need to have substantial experience in commissioning care services, procurement rules and protocols, a strong understanding of care budget management and strong evidence of leadership skills and ability to influence. We would also like the postholder to be able to demonstrate their ability to market manage and shape.
We will be looking to interview week commencing 6th March 2023.
What will you be doing?
You will be leading and managing the Older Person Commissioning and Brokerage Services. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Provide advice and support to all staff, and manage them through periods of change
- Set the strategic direction for commissioned care services and new models of care
- Work with local Health partners to align services, and integrate service delivery wherever possible
- Take the lead on projects designed to improve the lives of vulnerable adults
About you
You'll need to have substantial experience in commissioning care services, procurement rules and protocols, a sound understanding of care budget management and strong evidence of leadership skills along with the ability to influence. You'll also be able to demonstrate your ability to market manage and shape.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be forward thinking, innovative and self driven

- Be experienced in older persons care services, and the commissioning of these services

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
