Principal Lawyer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

Following the creation of West Northants Council in 2021, the Council is redefining how it delivers legal services. In partnership with Capsticks and DWF Solicitors, we are recruiting multiple Principal Lawyers across all three of our new teams within legal services:

Place - encompassing Property, Planning, Highways and Regeneration.

Corporate - encompassing Litigation, Contracts, Governance, Housing and Employment.

People - encompassing Adults, Education, Mental Health and Public Health.

What will you be doing?

Our Principal Lawyers are our technical specialists, they lead a team and work on our most complex cases undertaking a broad and exciting range of legal work in a fast-paced environment. They support the Head of Legal in the management of the team and work with our most senior officers and elected Members in the work they complete. Whilst legal experience is essential, local government experience is not. What’s more important is a passion for delivering an excellent legal service, a desire to help shape and deliver an exemplar local authority legal service and a drive to progress and achieve your own ambition.

About you

Are you an experienced lawyer looking to expand your skills and progress your career?  Join the brand new Legal Team at West Northants Council, one of the newest and the fourth biggest Unitary Councils in England.

Interviews for this position will be held w/c 20th March 2023.
