Public Health Officer

About the role

This is an exciting full time, permanent opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference to children and young people living in West Northamptonshire.

We are looking for someone to join our service, working alongside the Public Health team to support the children and young people’s public health agenda. This will include the early years and maternity work-stream, 0 – 19 programme, oral health and wider children and young people local services across West Northamptonshire.

What will you be doing?

You will join a dedicated and ambitious public health and wider council team, playing a key part in improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families living in West Northamptonshire, through prevention, early intervention and health improvement approaches.

You will support the review, design and implementation of evidence based programmes/interventions to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.

Working in close collaboration with key partners, you may also be required to undertake research and support processes that inform the commissioning of public health services. This may include contributing to needs and impact assessments, service reviews and evaluation, performance monitoring and procurement.

About you

You are a passionate, motivated individual with experience of supporting the implementation of public health programmes that improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children, young people and their families. You will have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work independently, as part of a team and collaboratively with key stakeholders across a wide range of organisations.

West Northamptonshire Council strives to be the best place for our children, young people and families. We are committed to providing high quality services and offer an excellent working environment valuing supervision, training and opportunities for professional development.

You should be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.

Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing 26th May 2025.
