Public Health Practitioner

About the role

This permanent role offers a rewarding opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of babies, children, young people and families across West Northamptonshire. You will play a key role in preventing ill health, reducing health inequalities and shaping services that give every child the best start in life, while being supported to grow your career in Public Health.

Working alongside our Public Health Consultant and Public Health Principal, you will help drive forward the maternity, babies, children and young people agenda across the area. This includes early years and maternity services, the Healthy Child Programme, Family Hubs, Best Start in Life initiatives, and mental well being support for children and young people.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting Family Hubs and Best Start in Life services
  • Strengthening maternity, early years and Healthy Child Programme delivery
  • Developing early support programmes that promote resilience and mental wellbeing
  • Using evidence and local insight to improve outcomes for babies, children and young people

About you

You will be passionate about improving outcomes and tackling health inequalities for children and families and confident working in partnership across organisations. Ideally you will have experience of child and family services within a local authority, NHS or VCFSE setting. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage projects and work collaboratively across multiple agencies.
