About the role
West Northamptonshire Public Health is looking to recruit a Public Health Principal, experienced in delivering Health Protection and Healthcare Public Health functions of Public Health. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead and shape this relatively new team, in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
What will you be doing?
The post holder will work with senior managers, elected members, strategic and policy leads in the Council, NHS, communities and other statutory, voluntary and community organisations to provide a strong Health Protection and Healthcare Public Health service within West Northants. As well as a portfolio of Health Protection and Healthcare Public Health projects and programmes, the successful candidate will oversee an Infection Prevention and Control function and will manage and mentor a small team.
About you
You will be a highly motivated and experienced manager, with excellent communication skills who thrives in a busy and demanding working environment. You will have strong leadership skills with some experience of budget management.
The successful applicant is expected to have a Master’s in Public Health or relevant post-graduate qualification, and will have, or be working towards, relevant clinical or Public Health registration.
The applicant should be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
