About the role

West Northants Public Health Team is looking for an innovative and experienced Public Health Principal to provide strategic expertise in our Children, Young People and All Age Mental Health portfolio.

With substantial changes having taken place in recent years, Public Health is now on an exciting journey to realign to its newly defined priorities with this role playing an important part.

What will you be doing?

The role will provide strategic oversight in public health program development and implementation, specifically affecting children, young people and people with mental health or learning disability challenges.

Key areas of focus will include children and young people 0-19 services’ partnership management, development of early years programmes, children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing programmes, data-driven decision-making, development of a WNC mental health and wellbeing action plan, refresh of the prevention concordat, and a cross-sector collaboration to tackle health inequalities.

About you

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working in a Public Health or similar setting, with significant knowledge of Public Health principles and theories.  In addition, you will also have knowledge and/or experience of working on initiatives or interventions to improve outcomes for children and young people or people with mental health, learning disabilities or autism.
