About the role

Are you passionate about sustainable travel and ensuring efficient public transport services for your community? West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Highways and Transport Team as a Public Transport Officer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the delivery of the Council’s public transport policies within the Sustainable Travel Team.

What will you be doing?

As a Public Transport Officer, your role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. You'll collect and analyse data to monitor the Council's Enhanced Partnership Scheme, ensuring bus reliability and usage. Handling bus service registrations and approvals under the Concessionary Travel Scheme, you'll liaise with operators and respond to inquiries, maintaining accurate information for both online and offline mediums.

Additionally, you'll manage the end-to-end process of bus publicity, from preparation to distribution, ensuring timely and accurate material. Overseeing bus stop infrastructure, you'll commission installations, procure repairs, and handle consultations.

About you

To thrive in this role, you should demonstrate strong analytical and data management skills, ensuring accurate insights for informed decision-making. You should also have good communication and customer service skills to deal with inquiries. A solid understanding of public transport operations and policies will equip you to navigate the role seamlessly.
