Registration Service Customer Advisor

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

Are you a customer focussed, a committed team player, able to work accurately under pressure and have a flexible approach towards work?

If so, the Registration Service would like to hear from you.

The Registration Service is a key part of the council and has the statutory duty to register all life events that occur in the district (births and deaths) and to conduct and register all civil marriages and civil partnerships. It also offers many other services such as Citizenship ceremonies, copy certificate production, and celebratory ceremonies such as Naming or Renewal of Vows.

The service is currently facing numerous challenges as a direct result of the pandemic. We’ve had to adapt at short notice to ensure we remain fully compliant with the latest Government guidelines while safeguarding our customers and colleagues.

The service operates from a variety of council buildings across the county and conducts ceremonies at over seventy approved venues.

The service is currently looking to recruit a full time (37 hours) administrator and a part time administrator (22.5 hours) to join our busy Customer Advice team based at our One Angel Square office.

Please specify on your application which position you are interested in.

Once fully trained there may be some opportunity to work remotely for part of the working week.

What will you be doing?

After completing the required training your main duties will include:

  • Dealing with all incoming and outgoing customer enquiries received by phone, email, post etc.
  • Processing payments
  • Keeping up to date and accurate system records on our customer database.
  • All other administration tasks within the job remit
  • Supporting the team at civil ceremonies where required.

This post will act on behalf of the statutory post-holder of “Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages” and “Superintendent Registrar”, and therefore you will be required to comply with the requirements of the Disqualification to Registration Office criteria.

Interviews will be held via Skype or Microsoft Teams.

For informal enquiries or a discussion about the job, please contact the Recruiting Manager by clicking the ‘contact Recruiting Manager’ link in your ‘My Account’ tab on the job site.

All applications must be made online – we cannot accept applications submitted via any other means.
