Resettlement Project Support Officer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to provide business support to the council's Resettlement Team.  The work is fast-paced and you would be the central cog in the team, making everything work smoothly and ensuring that systems and processes are organised efficiently.

The resettlement team currently supports two bridging hotels, temporarily housing Afghan Nationals, here in the UK under the ARAP (Afghan Relocation & Assistance Policy) and ACRS (Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme) government resettlement schemes.  We also support Ukrainian Nationals who have arrived here on sponsor visas as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. 

It is essential that the team is organised and has everything it needs to be able to provide assistance to the people the support team is working with - this role is crucial to enable and facilitate exemplary service is delivered at all times.

What will you be doing?

Ensuring that data is recorded and stored accurately, the post holder will have to produce regular and ad-hoc reports on request, including responses to Freedom of Information requests and progress reports and updates, both on a planned basis, but also at short notice when required.

Dealing with enquiries, from a wide range of customers, many of them Ukrainian Nationals and their hosts across West Northamptonshire.  Also liaising across council services to ensure the efficient and high-quality delivery of support to those that need it.

Making sure that all checks are performed and recorded for the Homes for Ukraine scheme and working with DLUHC (Department of Levelling Up, Housing & Communities) to make sure that people are arriving to safe places of refuge at a time of stress and trauma.

About you

You are highly organised and efficient.  You should be proficient at using Microsoft applications and in particular, be experienced and skilled with Microsoft Excel.

You must have an excellent understanding of how to work with customers, providing exceptional  service through strong communication skills.  In particular, written communication skills will be key - part of the role will be to manage the resettlement inbox, which receives a steady volume of email traffic and a wide range of enquiries.

You will be resilient and able to work independently from the team, who are working from various locations across West Northamptonshire.  You should be approachable and calm and able to prioritise your workload on a daily, if not hourly basis.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
