SEND Analytics Specialist (SEND & AP Reform Programme)

About the role

At West Northamptonshire Council, we believe that good decisions start with great insight. As a SEND Analytics Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Reform Programme, helping to improve outcomes for children, young people and families across West Northamptonshire. This is a unique opportunity to combine your analytical expertise with meaningful public service impact, working at the centre of a major programme of change that is shaping the future of SEND services locally.

Working within our Business Intelligence & Population Insights team on a three-year fixed-term contract, you'll develop the data, reporting and insight that enable senior leaders and partners to make informed decisions. Collaborating with colleagues across education, health and social care, you'll help ensure that services are driven by evidence, performance is effectively monitored and the impact of reform activity is clearly understood.

What will you be doing?

You'll design, maintain and develop reporting solutions, performance frameworks and Power BI dashboards that support the SEND and AP Partnership Board and associated workstreams. Working with a variety of datasets from across partner organisations, you'll transform complex information into meaningful insight, helping stakeholders understand performance, demand, risk and outcomes across the local area.

You'll work closely with programme leads and service managers to define data requirements, develop performance measures and support the evaluation of new and emerging services. This will include producing analysis for key reform initiatives, undertaking demand and waiting list analysis, developing locality-level insight where possible and bringing together information from multiple programme areas into clear and informative reports for senior leaders and partners.

A key part of the role will be communicating analytical findings in a clear and accessible way, using visualisation and storytelling techniques to help drive evidence-based decision-making and support continuous improvement across SEND services.

About you

You're an experienced analyst or business intelligence professional who enjoys turning complex information into meaningful insight. With strong experience of developing Power BI dashboards, reporting solutions and performance frameworks, you're confident working with complex datasets and translating business questions into clear, actionable analysis.

You have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, enabling you to build positive relationships and present analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. You'll be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and supporting strategic decision-making within a fast-paced and evolving environment.

A degree-level qualification, or equivalent experience, in analytics, statistics, economics, social research, business intelligence or a related discipline will support your success in this role. Experience within local government, children's services, SEND, education, health or wider public sector settings would be beneficial, but most importantly you'll be passionate about using data and insight to make a positive difference and share our commitment to helping West Northamptonshire thrive.
