SEND Practitioner

About the role

Working within the People Directorate, Education Services ensure that early help and specialist support is provided to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and proactively champion the inclusion of all children in education.

What will you be doing?

The post holder would carry a caseload of approximately 50 cases, providing a range of support depending on the circumstances and the needs of the child and their school/family/carers.

This is a School Age role supporting children across their homes, settings, schools and occasional other bases. This role is predominantly working with primary age children, however, you will occasionally be required to support children across the age phase.

The post holder will also be contributing to the delivery of courses and workshops which includes occasional evening working (agreed in advance).

This role is part-flexible worker style, this means that you are expected to be in the office base, working from settings, completing visits and meetings, which will be in person and online, within your working hours. Some working from home is an option dependent on service need and demand and is agreed in advance with your line manager.

This is a 37 hour per week, full time, permanent contract. At this time, we are unable to consider part time working.

You will be required to travel within West Northamptonshire and sometimes beyond.

Interviews will be on 3rd and 4th July 2025 at One Angel Square.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
