Senior Finance Business Partner

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity available at West Northamptonshire Council for a qualified professional to join us as a Senior Finance Business Partner in the Accountancy Division.

The Accountancy Division are the technical business partners responsible for :

  • Closure of Accounts
  • IFRS Accounting
  • Fixed Assets
  • Preparation of working papers
  • Ensuring that the Statement of Accounts is produced in accordance with the statutory deadlines and regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Dealing with year-end audit queries
  • Development of processes and procedures plan

The role of the Senior Finance Business Partner is to lead on the lead on the development plan, fixed assets, and integrity of the financial information system This is a high-profile role and requires good management skills to ensure finance services provided are efficient and professional.

A Senior Finance Business Partner is expected to lead and manage members of the Finance team that may include Finance Business Partners and Assistant Finance Business Partners/Accountants.

Within the Finance Team the post-holder will be expected to be able to operate in any of the Senior Finance Business Partner posts.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Strategic Finance Business Partner, you will manage one of our Technical Services teams and will play a key role in developing our service and embedding good practice across the organisation in delivering our technical accounting services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic and operational management
  • Evaluate and advise on financial implications
  • Development of processes and procedures

About you

You'll be CCAB Qualified, will ensure proper procedure and best practice are followed, and work closely with colleagues across the organisation, as well as working with councillors and auditors.

Your skills will enable you to manage, motivate and develop staff within the team and ensure that priorities and objectives are achieved.

Ongoing professional development will also be key to you.
