Senior Infrastructure Support Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Support Analyst to help keep our infrastructure platforms up and running in a highly reliable safe and secure way.  

We want to be the leading local council in digital innovation. To achieve this, we need to have the right people in our platform and infrastructure teams.

The purpose of the DTI team is to provide digital and technology support for West Northamptonshire Council and our partners North Northamptonshire Council, Milton Keynes Council, and Cambridgeshire County Council. You'll join us on our journey as we create better end-to-end services for our councils and residents.

Working together with a group of like-minded individuals, you'll have an extensive knowledge of Windows Server architecture and virtualisation technologies.  A good understanding of enterprise level storage solutions and cloud environments would be a bonus.

What will you be doing?

Day to day, your job will look like:  

  • You will be part of the team supporting and maintaining our existing infrastructure, looking for how we may develop the service and improve.
  • Advising on, design and implement small infrastructure projects in your own area of specialisation.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to scope, on time and to budget.
  • Ensuring we are secure and highly available as a service – liaising with the Cyber Security team to keep us on the right tracks
  • Monitoring incoming issues to the services desks, triage escalations appropriately so you can restore the service as soon as possible
  • Producing documentation to support the wider technical support teams learning and development
  • Creating business cases for the improvement opportunities you have identified, influencing decision makers to secure budget for delivery.
  • Keeping up to date with any product developments / issues through maintaining  strong and positive relationship with our vendors
  •  Being a proactive thinker, do-er and challenger, so that we can do our best work 

About you

You will need:  

  • Natural openness, curiosity and optimism (a bit of bravery probably wouldn’t hurt either)  
  • Platform administration experience in Windows and VMware (essential), SAN storage and Cloud environments (a bonus)
  • Experience of working in an enterprise environment administrating Azure AD
  • Experience of security controls
  • Experience running projects to budget, on time, within scope
  • Excellent communication skills
  • ITIL qualifications or certification

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
