We have an exciting opportunity within the West Northants Council for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our new Supported Living Review Project Team. We are looking to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist who has initiative and who will take the challenge of developing our Sensory Offer in West Northants. Specifically, we want to develop services that support people with Autism and for other people with complex sensory needs in addition to undertaking more generic Occupational Therapy Assessments to the support this team.
The Supported Living Review Team(SLRT) is working closely with our Commissioning colleagues to review all current people living in Supported Living Accommodation that have either a Learning Disability, Physical Disability, Acquired Brain Injury, Sensory Needs, Autism and/ or Mental Health issues.
The remit of the Supported Living Review Team is to consider all options to meet Care Act eligible needs that promote and maximise independence, wellbeing, inclusion, and control. To deliver the best possible outcomes for people.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to support this project, which has the potential to continue beyond the project timespan, to assess needs and to consider opportunities to promote, maximise independence and ensure that we are meeting sensory and emotional needs, specifically related to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger Syndrome, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Social, Emotional Mental Health and Complex Needs.
The successful candidate will work as part of the SLRT project team maintaining a caseload, carrying out individual holistic quality assessments, reports, defining treatment goals, plans and provide appropriate treatment and linking with other agencies, recommending suitable equipment to enable independence for daily living and where appropriate organise for its provision and instruct on safe use, assessing the housing provision and suitability with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for the people of West Northants.
The successful candidate will be taking a “hands on” approach, it is essential that you will be a strong team player, with excellent communication skills. You must have excellent organisational and time management skills. They will also need to establish effective communication and liaison with other Therapy, Social Workforce, Care staff members, third sector and family members of people being reviewed by SLRT.

About you
You will need to have experience of working with people with a Learning Disability, Physical Disability, Acquired Brain Injury, Autism and/or Mental Health. You will be a qualified OT and registered with HCPC. In addition, you will need to be committed to achieving the best outcomes for the people of West Northants
