West Northamptonshire Council delivers a broad range of critical services to residents across the authority, from Adults Social Care, Public Health, Housing Solutions to running libraries and leisure centres, major highways schemes and refuse collection.
The Business Intelligence and Population Insights team is vital in shaping the council’s decision making, strategy development and delivery through the provision of high quality information and intelligence. The service helps drive forwards innovation and technological efficiencies through the insights it is able to provide.
We’re on the lookout for a Statutory Returns & Data Lead to join us in delivery of management information for the Council, plus managing and the producing statutory return information to central government.

What will you be doing?
You will be one of a small team of Statutory Returns & Data Leads, each aligned to a council directorate area. You will be responsible for the planning, collection, processing, and provision of information regarding West Northamptonshire Council’s statutory data. The council has a number of regular statutory reports it has to return to central government. These can cover a multitude of measures across a variety of the authorities’ services such as Education, Adult Social Care and Public Health.
You will also be responsible for providing regular reporting in addition to statutory returns to both internal and external sources in order that evidence-based decisions can be made to improve service provision.
About you
You will need:
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to build strong working relationships to ensure a collaborative approach to data returns and error resolution.
- Strong Project Management and planning skills to aid the completion and submission of national and corporate statutory returns, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- An advanced understanding of performance information, statistical analysis and the importance of high quality data and its use.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
