Stock and Support Services Manager

About the role

If you want to play an active role in providing support to libraries across the county, in a team developing a professional, customer focused and efficient, stock, finance and logistics background, we may have just the job for you! 

We are seeking a manager to join our small team responsible for stock ordering, management of financial transactions and providing logistics to deliver resources.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for ensuring a small team of staff provide excellent customer service to support Northamptonshire Libraries and Information Services (NLIS), Community Managed Libraries, School Library Service and Traded Services to deliver their own front line services including:-

  • Timely supply of reading materials and non-book supplies
  • Efficient management of ordering, receipting and invoicing transactions
  • Management of transport delivery systems and staffing including but not limited to; council libraries, community managed libraries, Library Resources for Education, Bookstart

About you

Working within the business support team, you will be based at Riverside Retail Park, Northampton in our warehouse building, delivering support to libraries and traded services across both West and North Northamptonshire.

You will be responsible for a small team and must enable ordering stock of books and resources, maintaining and manage financial transactions, delivery of stock and resources in a timely manner. 

You must be positive and forward thinking with a 'can do' attitude and a ideally will have a background in customer excellence.  You will have previous experience of managing and motivating a team.

You will interact with a wide variety of people and will need to be enthusiastic, methodical, self motivated and possess excellent customer service skills along with IT skills.

The role entails a certain amount of physical activity and you must be flexible in your approach to work and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
