Therapy Assistant

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity within the West Northants Council to join our reablement therapy team which consist of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. We are looking to recruit two highly motivated Therapy Assistants who are keen to develop their skills and support both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy delivery in the community. Specifically, we want to develop reablement services to motivate and enable older people to re-build activities of daily living to optimise independence and continue to live safely in their own homes.

 

 

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will work as part of the team maintaining a caseload, providing support to Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist visits, implementing treatment plans, providing feedback to the person, family, and therapists, writing notes, reports, following up suitable equipment to enable independence for daily living and where appropriate organise for its provision and instruct on safe use, to achieve the best outcomes for the people of West Northants.

The successful candidate will be taking a “hands on” approach, it is essential that you will be a strong team player, with excellent communication skills. You must have excellent organisational and time management skills. They will also need to establish effective communication and liaison with their team and other Therapy, Social Workforce, Care staff members, third sector and family members of people being supported by The Reablement West Therapy Team.

This is a very holistic and enjoyable role, providing the opportunity to develop as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. We are also looking for the successful candidate to be open to the future opportunities to complete Therapy apprenticeships as part of West Northants and develop into future therapists.

About you

You will need to have experience of working with people, in addition, you will need to be committed to achieving the best outcomes for the people of West Northants.

As part of this role in a community team, you would be expected to have access to a car for work and relevant driving licence and insurance.

Qualifications:-

Educated to 5 GCSE’s or equivalent; Including Maths and English Language at Grade C/4 or above or maths and English level 2 functional skills.

One set of the following qualifications from the list;

  • Three A Levels at BBC or above (in subjects other than General Studies)
  • BTEC: 18 units; graded DDM in a health or science related subject
  • T level: Merit
  • Access: Level 3 – 15 credits at distinction and 30 at merit
  • Open University minimum 60 credits
