About the role

This is a 12 month fixed term contract

The Transport Delivery Team plays a vital statutory role, making a real difference every day by ensuring safe, reliable travel for Children and Young People, as well as Vulnerable Adults.

This is a key position within the service, helping to keep operations running smoothly and effectively. You will support the delivery of the Council’s Home to School Transport Policy, balancing budgetary responsibilities with the individual needs of the people we support, while working within a clear and robust legislative framework.

A central focus of the role is contract compliance. This includes verifying that vehicles, services, and personnel meet required standards, and that all staff are fully approved and hold enhanced DBS clearance.

What will you be doing?

You will take a lead roll on delivering robust audits making sure all operators comply with their legal and contractual requirements. You will work with our Contracts Procurement Officer monitoring trends in operator performance & devising strategies to improve performance and compliance.

About you

You don’t need experience across all aspects of the job as that will form part of your development journey, but you will need experience of transport operations and the legal requirements associated with this. Additional experience in contract management would be an advantage.

You’ll need to have a solutions driven and adaptable approach to working, thrive in a busy environment and have a positive approach to challenges. You will be able to smoothly manage processes whilst being able use your own initiative to 'think outside of the box’. You’ll use your great attention to detail to ensure all contractual requirements are met.
