Unqualified Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer - apprenticeship

About the role

We are looking for a person who has an interest in the area of visual impairment and would be interested and motivated in becoming a Qualified Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer.

You would need to be willing to work in the Visual Impairment Team whilst studying and complete the Foundation Science (FdSc) Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) at Birmingham City university on the apprenticeship scheme, 2 year course.  Once qualified you will be required to complete a  further 2 year course to became qualified in complex visual impairment work.  Your course fees will be paid

You will receive a Salary during your work and studies, you will be provided with training, supervision and support to complete your work and the course. The Visual Impairment Team operate Monday to Friday. WNC is a flexible employer and your work hours will be discussed with the successful candidate.

What will you be doing?

Working in the Visual Impairment team you will be supporting visually impaired adults in their homes and the community.  You will offer support and training to enable them to gain the independence and confidence to adjust to the challenges of living with a sight loss.

About you

 You will need to already have the following qualifications;

  • GCSE English Language or English Literature and GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above

and one of the following;

  • Level 3 NVQ or Diploma or equivalent (full award) or
  • 2 or more A-Levels (DD/48 UCAS tariff points) or
  • a BTEC ordinary National Diploma or Level 2 NVQ or
  • Diploma (full award) or 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 (grade C).

 

Car Driver & owner required.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
