Waste Performance Officer

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity within the Waste Team at West Northamptonshire Council to lead and manage the waste collection and street cleansing services across the Daventry area.

This role will oversee these high profile service arrangements during a significant period of transition.

The existing Joint Venture (JV) agreement between Norse and West Northants Council is due to end in May 2028, when these services will transfer back into direct Council management.

As a result, this is a high-profile and challenging role requiring an experienced contract management professional with strong technical knowledge of waste and environmental services, preferably with experience of working within a local authority.

This position is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 May 2028.

We encourage applicants to submit a CV and supporting statement demonstrating how they meet the requirements of the role, including their experience of contract management, service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and leading services through periods of change.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring waste collection and street cleansing services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required performance standards.

Working closely with the Council's JV partner, you will resolve operational issues, drive service improvements, and respond effectively to matters raised by residents, councillors, and other stakeholders.

You will play a key role in maintaining service continuity while supporting preparations for the future insourcing of these essential frontline services.
