Welfare Benefit Officer

About the role

This is an exciting permanent opportunity within the Financial Operational Team of West Northamptonshire Council. In this role you will be required to assist our Adult Social Care customers with benefit claims, including means tested and non-means tested state benefits, and housing related benefits. This will involve face to face meetings, visits to drop-in services, telephone calls and any other relevant communication methods.

You will need:

In depth knowledge and experience of the Welfare Benefits system, including Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reductions.
To be self-motivating with a track record of being able to plan and prioritise your own workload.
To be able to work within a team and on your own.
To be able to effectively travel across the County and be flexible in your approach, as the role will involve visiting vulnerable customers in their own homes.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
