About the role

Our team of brilliant Call Care Operators play an important role in looking after our most vulnerable members of the community by providing a response to their alarm calls, 24/7, 365 days of the year.

No two calls are the same for our team which makes it a really interesting role, you could be answering a call from a customer’s smoke alarm and calling the fire brigade or providing reassurance to a customer.

This is an office-based, control room role answering calls from older people and people with vulnerabilities.

We facilitate a 24/7 365 response which may include calling the emergency services, family and other support – please see Job Description for further information.

Hours and shifts:

We are recruiting for two part-time posts. One post is 16 hours a week, the other is 15 hours a week, both over a 12-week rolling rota pattern. 

Post one – between the hours of 09:30-14:30 and 17:00-22:00 with a combination of weekday and weekend working

Post two – between the hours of 08:00-22:00 with a combination of weekday and weekend working

About you

This is an ideal role for someone who is reliable, resilient, caring and committed to helping and safeguarding others. A background in Customer Services would be desirable.

This role involves working in a close-knit team and also requires some lone-working therefore you need to be confident working alone and being autonomous. This is a busy, varied role and so you must be able to multi-task in a busy environment.

The shift pattern is a mixture of weekdays and weekends with varied hours over a six-week rota pattern therefore you will need to be available to work at these times. You will also be required to be flexible to cover colleague’s annual leave and unforeseen absence as part of our team-working ethos.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
