What will you be doing?

Shared Lives care can include:

Long term accommodation & support  - where an adult would live with you and your family.

Short breaks & respite  -where an adult would stay for ad hoc nights, weekends or weeks, but not permanently.

Day support  - where you would support an adult based from your own home just during the day time.

You will be self-employed, but will be supported, monitored and regulated by the Shared Lives scheme and undertake any mandatory training provided to meet the complex care needs of the individuals.

About you

All kinds of people can become Shared Lives carers- you don’t need to have any specific experience or training in care already, you will just have a genuine passion for caring for and supporting people. You may be a couple or single, with or without children, a home owner or a tenant. You will need to be over 18 and have a spare bedroom in your home.

Please note, this role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate, and children and adults barred list check.
