IT Systems Manager

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

How would you like to come and design your own infrastructure team?

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and energetic IT Systems Manager to lead our team of highly skilled technicians in the Infrastructure team, working within the IT Operations service.

We’re looking for a step change in technologies, skills and processes as we move from our legacy set-up to an agile, modern hybrid environment. You’ll get to redesign the team, the processes and the technical strategy to deliver this, supported by some experienced colleagues who’ll help you see your vision through.

What will you be doing?

In this role, using your proven understanding and deep knowledge of IT operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the council's IT infrastructure comprising datacentres, servers, M365, networks and telephony operations, providing essential and reliable IT services for c4,500 staff between WNC and our partners, as well as of course for the residents of West Northamptonshire.

More importantly, you will lead on the transformation and modernisation of the council’s infrastructure from its current largely on-premise footprint, moving IT services and hosting where appropriate into the cloud so you will have a strong knowledge, understanding and experience of cloud operations - including successful on-premise to AWS or Azure Cloud Migrations.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic leader with significant experience in IT operations, including building, managing, and developing high performance technical teams. You will have a proven track record of running both on-premises and cloud hosted services within a large scale environment, with deep expertise in cloud operations and successful migration projects.

You’re the sort of person who has a passion for driving innovation and can ignite enthusiasm within the team for change! Your ability to manage budgets and deliver operational projects efficiently will be a key part of your success. If you are looking for your next challenge, are ready to level up, and are eager to make a lasting impact and lead WNC into the future of IT, we want to hear from you!
