Personal Assistant/ Support Worker

Weekday mornings and evenings – 30–40 hours per week.

The employer is 18-year-old young man with autism and learning difficulties. The role focuses on support with self-care skills and daily routines, particularly around preparing for school/college and evening routines, helping him to develop independence in a structured and reassuring way.

He is already receiving support and benefits from clear routines, gentle prompt and consistent support. The PA will work alongside existing support strategies and follow guidance provided by the family and professionals.

 Main Duties  

  • Support with morning routines, including preparing for school/college
  • Encouragement and prompting with self-care skills (e.g. dressing, hygiene)
  • Support with bath time and evening routines
  • Helping maintain structure, routines and transitions
  • Providing calm reassurance and positive encouragement
  • Promoting independence while ensuring safety
  • Working consistently with strategies already in place
  • Supporting with the employer’s attendance of occasional, local outpatient appointments.

About you

You will be empathetic, patient, trustworthy, and emotionally resilient, with a calm and reassuring presence. You respect boundaries, value independence, and understand the importance of dignity and autonomy in care.

You will have the right to work in the UK, be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check, and provide references.
 
Experience in care, mental health support, trauma‑informed practice, first aid, or supporting people with chronic illness or neurodivergence is desirable but not essential.

We require compassionate and reliable Personal Assistants/Support workers to provide one-to-one support for adults in West Northamptonshire. Please note, the Personal Assistant roles are employed directly by the individuals, you would not be an employee of West Northamptonshire Council.
