Public Health Officer (Infection, Prevention and Control)

About the role

You will support projects that implement and sustain improvements to Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) across West Northamptonshire, and help to coordinate the Public Health response to incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases affecting the local authority area.

Please note that interviews will be held on Wednesday 28 June and Thursday 29 June 2023

What will you be doing?

You will support work to embed IPC in policies, programmes and practice across West Northamptonshire community settings such as care and social care settings, SEND schools, units, and workplaces. This will be through supporting the planning and delivery of audits, risk assessments, advice and guidance, education and training.

You will also contribute to supporting the local public health response and interventions to major incidents and outbreaks relating to diseases and other hazards.

About you

The successful candidate will be qualified in a Public Health or a related subject, with certification or accreditation in IPC. They will already be registered with a UK clinical or public health body and have experience of delivering IPC functions. They will have a reasonable level of knowledge of epidemiologic intelligence and have experience of interpretation and evidence-based practice. They will have effective communication skills, based on experience, which will be utilised to produce a range of quality documents and be competent at presenting information to influence others.  They will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The applicant should be eligible to work in the United Kingdom and be able to start work as soon as possible.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
